Program emphasis

Citrus germplasm exploitation, innovation and utilization. 1) to collect and evaluate wild and dooryard citrus nationwide in China for further genetic improvement and genomics research, genetic diversity, phylogenetic relationship; 2) to exploit a citrus model with extremely short juvenility period (one year from seed to seed) for rapid genetics and functional genomics research, pure lines production via self crossing and anther culture, genetic transformation system construction.

In-depth analysis of citrus important traits. Genetics and Omics-based approaches to identify key genes controlling polyembryony, to reveal formation mechanism and regulation of fruit color using diverse color mutants, carotenoid metabolic engineering, transgenics and molecular breeding.

Macro-problem driven research for citrus industry. The operation mechanism of Chinese Agricultural Research System, sustainable development strategy for citrus industry
